Ono is one of the few spots in SGV to get a legit Hawaiian lunch plate. They have been around for years and years.

This location and the Rosemead one are my go to's.

Tight parking lot in this plaza. The restaurant is still the same since they opened. Good amount of seating for a fast/casual spot.

Service is friendly. I like the OCD they have when they set up the hot sauces and soy sauce, perfectly lined up! Food time is hit or miss, one time it took 15 minutes to make an order of musubi and my last visit, 2 lunch plates took less then 10. Very inconsistent.

Hawaii BBQ Mix Plate - $11.49 - Combo plate with grilled beef rib, beef, and chicken. All have the same similar soy marinade. Tasty on its own but even better with their teriyaki sauce. Comes with the typical hawaiian creamy mac salad and chopped veggies. Their sticky rice is good.

Spam Musubi - $4.89 - Spam, rice, and seaweed. They are made really inconsistently. The spam slices they provide here is always super duper thin. Typically a can of spam can get you 10 decent slices, I think they try to get 15. Then the rice layer is never the same. One order had a inch layer of rice and my last visit the rice was like half an inch thick. I wish they paid more attention to detail for these, like they do the sauce packages. These are way over priced also!

Prices have gone up but the food is still pretty on par with Oahu.

Food is fine, but the location is HORRIBLE.

There's a big trash dumpster about 30 feet from the entrance, and when the wind is just right, the entire area smells like decomposing garbage.

So after you enjoy a nice full lunch, walk outside to your car, and BAM!  You feel like gagging.  You return to work with the smell of garbage stuck in your nose.

It sucks that Ono Hawaiian has to take the hit even though it's technically not their fault, but it's still part of the experience.

Ordered a bbq combo with katsu, chicken, and beef.  Came on a bed of steamed cabbage and broccoli.  Sides of rice and macaroni salad.  Made it a combo with drink and crab rangoon for a total of $16.29.

Enough food for two so there is value.  Taste, lackluster.  Really need condiments which you had to ask for.  We certainly couldn't find any.

Typical fast food seating and bus your own dishes and order at counter.

Parking is tough depending on the time of day.  Tired shopping center, just doesn't feel clean, and because it is at a large intersection, ingress and egress are one way.

Staff ok, but please wear a clean shirt to work.  We were some of the first customers and it didn't look good.  Also staff needs to speak up.  They were young people so probably just need more training.  Correct change given.

After a long direct flight from Copenhagen and then sitting in a FlyAway Bus in LA rush hour traffic, all my bf and I could think of was finally getting that glorious dinner from Golden Deli. Unfortunately, when we got there, we found out that they are away for vacation all through the month of October. Nooooooooo. But also, good for them taking a family vacation!? I peeped their business Facebook page where they uploaded photos from Italy and they looked blissful. People/fans of Golden Deli were also posting how they missed their food! I chimed in on that comment chain. But, I digress. Ono Hawaiian BBQ was our impromptu third resort that night (after seeing a waiting list at Summer Rolls across the street and saying nope, nein, nyet).

For a third resort kind of dinner, it delivered spectacularly. By spectacular, I mean in these following ways: 1) there was no line, 2) food still tasted like 'home' (as in rice and meat), 3) and more importantly, food came out in a jiff! As a bonus, our two orders of Chicken Katsu Plates filled us up. Each plate is a generous serving of rice, mac salad, and crispy fried chicken cutlets on a bed of steamed cabbage. Katsu sauce is self-serve along with napkins, hot sauce, etc.

All in all, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a solid spot if you're tired, starving, and need your fill of rice and katsu, stat. Generous parking and generous amount of food with essentially no wait all make for a no fuss casual dining.

Currently eating here and look what I found. A little plastic string with blue things on it. Was moving my katsu around and noticed something stuck to two of them. Took them apart and this string was adhered to both. Wtf.
